WOW, WOW, WOW! In case you haven't figured it out, I received the pipes and installed them. They are everything I had hoped for and more! The sound is absolutely perfect and I haven't even played with the different baffle settings yet. Yes, I have much to look forward to :). Your "personalized" customer service was the best I've seen and made me feel like a part of your family. It was truely a pleasure doing business with you. I've posted to a couple of discussion boards (see below) I frequent and it sounds like a couple of more customers are coming your way. I'll take the loaner pipes to UPS in the morning and send you the tracking number. Thanks again!!!! Ken Crowe - Mulvane, KS Ken rides an 2005 VTX 1300 R----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** HONDASHADOW.NET AND VTXRIDERS.COM POST*** I just received/installed my Sturgis Thunder Pipe Works (STPW) modified exhaust and thought I'd give you a review. BACKGROUND: STPW will take your stock exhaust and remove all the guts and install their baffles. This gives you the sound of an after-market pipe but allows you to retain the stock look. Another added benefit is you get the sound of after market pipes at half the cost. Below is my impression of the company and their work: This is the most impressive company I've ever worked with. I've never had more personalized service. During each step of the process STPW sent me are-mail keeping me informed. I received an automated e-mail when the order was first placed, then a real person e-mailed me to verify my model, e-mailed me when the loaner pipes were shipped, e-mailed me to verify I received them, when they received my pipes, when the work was half complete and when the work was completed... there were probably a couple of more e-mails I've forgotten. I elected to get the loaner pipes. Truthfully, I probably didn't need them as the weather was great and the entire process took less than 2 weeks and I ended up spending an additional $40 shipping back the loaner pipes. However, since I did get the loaner pipes I was able to use their crate for shipping and they did an outstand job of packaging/protecting the pipes. The crate they shipped them in was lined with foam and I really liked the convenience of not needing to figure out how to package mine. For me, the additional $40 was worth it for the added convenience. Sound: I absolutely love the sound. I've only played with the quiet mode and for now that's enough for me. I will open them up a bit just to see.... more to follow. Their web site does a good job of showing the different positions you can use for the baffles. Performance: While STPW will not guarantee you won't need to rejet they state on their website it's usually not required. I suck at wrench turning so this is an added benefit. So far no popping on decel, no back firing just pure beefy, glorious SOUND!!!! More Performance: I was surprised at how easy the bike "roars to life" now. Again, I don't know much about mechanics. The bike definitely starts easier. Even when it was cold this morning, I didn't need to use the choke. I suppose it has something to do with added airflow but what do I know. Workmanship: There was some repainting needed but I honestly can't see it. The pipes look like they did when I rode the bike out of the dealer. 7. They currently will modify the VTX 1300/1800, Valkyrie, Goldwing , 750 Aero, 1100 Aero, and 750 ACE. $285 - $345 depending on your model. If you elect to get the loaner pipes, there is a $100 deposit which is refundable. Their web address is: Forgive me if I've violated a rule by posting prices/web address, but I thought it was significant information. S. Recommendation: As you've all read in numerous posts, sound is subjective. I love the tone and the rumble of the modification, I like retaining the stock look and at $315 bucks. I love the price. I would give the sound and customer service an 11 on a scale of 1 - 10!

Hi Cycleman, I'll be
sending the loaners back tomorrow to the address below... Meanwhile I got my
pipes back last Thurs. as promised, installed them and hit the starter--WOW!
Perfect tone, just what I was hoping for and worth the wait. Didn't even
move the baffles from mild! Went for a 170 mile ride Sunday and bike
performed flawlessly, no further tuning seems necessary. Thanks for
preserving the chrome, the fabrication looks great and you guys (& gals?)
obviously did your R&D. Awesome, they're perfect. Got a parts catalog in the
mail this week and thumbed through the pipe section (as I have repeatedly
for nearly 2 years) and still didn't see anything I would have rather
installed. So glad I found your company, too bad you couldn't have a blurb
in the catalogs directing VTX owners your way. Thanks again, I try and
spread the word 'er "Thunder" here! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Cycleman,
Sure your welcome to use my
reply on your testimonial page... I swear by it!! Thanks again and Good Luck
gettin' the word out, hopefully I can get you some more Bakersfield
business, I'll be giving your cards out when others hear "the sweet sound of
thunder". I also plan to try some adjustments just to hear other "melodies"
for myself!

Thanks for the wonderful
job you did on my pipes! With the holidays over now and a little slack time
at the Fire Dept, I finally had a chance to install them on my bike this
past weekend and they sound GREAT...I LOVE THEM!!! Your great detail given
to workmanship can definitely be seen everywhere on the pipes and your
customer service is second to none. I will gladly tell everyone I know about
STURGIS THUNDER PIPE WORKS ...wait a minute, I won't need to...the pipes
will...hahaha! Good luck in all you do and I hope your company continues to
prosper in the new year.

John, Was waiting to send my critique of my new Sturgis Thunder Pipe Works exhaust. I have put on around 600 miles since I installed them and just am thrilled with everything. Here's some notes I wrote down about the pipes and STPW Great emails from John at STPW. Quick turnaround. Quick shipping. Great packaging. First impressions. ...LOUDER THAN STOCK... Superb sound. Nice low rumble. And this was on the quiet mode. Nice ride through the neighborhood. Pipes are much louder than stock and do have a nice rumble. Out on the highway, good tone without being a droning noise. Not too loud. Did not notice any loss or gain in power. Also no deceleration popping, just the rumble when it decel's down. So no need to re-jet. Just like John says. Impressions from others: Girlfriend doesn't like them - louder than hers - so she is getting new pipes also. HD riders love this sound said it sounds like a big bike now. Plus they loved it when I said I didn't have to re-jet. Overall - Outstanding exhaust system. For me, money wasn't the deciding factor. I liked the look of the OEM pipes on my bike and John does it right. Thanks for everything John, I have shown this to others in my X Riders group and the ones that haven't switched to another exhaust are now looking at yours. If others want to contact me about these pipes, please do. Hope we can ride together someday. Again, thanks and ride safe. Larry "O" - Bowie, MD - oldehawg@yahoo.com Larry rides an 2005 VTX 1300 R |

Sup John,
Thanks again. |

John, Got the pipes yesterday 8-22-06 and put them on, they sound great! Better than I hoped actually and that is with the baffles in the "quiet" position with the Port open. Of course I do have one slight problem, I lost the nut that holds the port cover on, can you tell me what thread type/pitch that is or will just a standard M13 nut from Lowes work? Thanks again for the super quick turnaround. I am hard to impress and I was very impressed with the job you did. Good luck also in your new facility. Hi John, I have emailed Jeff to let him know how to contact us to hook up. I just got back from the Aero Ride in TN. 2200 miles in a week for me as a few of us broke off after the TN rides and rode the Blue Ridge Parkway home. Your pipes did great. A lot of the 750 Aero guys really liked it too. Of course, that is where I got your name from anyway. I think Mike was going to see if you could mod an 1100 pipe for his 750. There ended up being about 50 of us altogether and I passed out your cards to most of them. We had a great time with great weather. Sorry to hear you will not make homecoming but glad things worked out at the Hoot. Good luck with the move. Hope it goes as easy as it can be. I haven't swapped out the other restrictor plates yet, as I like the sound I have. When I pull the fin, I may trade one out while I am checking it over. I feel no need to rejet and I got better gas mileage than I have ever gotten. Thanks

Hi John,
Hope all is well. Just wanted to let you know that the pipes arrived back safe and sound. Got them on and I installed the Baron's Big Air Kit-Stage 3 jet kit, as well as disabled the PAIR system (emissions/smog junk). Drove it last night through my neighborhood and...WOW! What a difference in performance and sound. The pipes have an unbelievable sound, even in the quiet mode (thought I'd try that since it was around 9 p.m. last night and didn't want to wake any of the small kids in the neighborhood). Looking forward to trying out the other modes as well as soon as the weather dries out around here. I am extremely pleased with the quality of your workmanship, your honesty and expedited handling of my order. Your service and workmanship is second to none as far as I am concerned. More than happy to share my experience with any VTX owners (or others if necessary). Just so you know, I posted information regarding my experience and your work product on a VTX owners website if you would like to check it out. www.vtxcafe.com. Thanks again and I'll be back in touch soon. Rich Reynolds - Charlotte, NC Rich rides a 2005 VTX 1300 Retro |

Hi John, I hope business is booming – I have people asking about my pipes – I’ve been referring them to your website. In reference to increased power, the pipes (in the quiet setting) combined w/ the air filter and fuel manager did the trick. I took it to the dyno and am now getting 102 h.p. and 112 ft. lbs. of torque. These are some of the highest numbers I’ve seen reported on these bikes (VTX 1800) w/ similar mods. Good luck with the business. E. Lopez - Davie, FL Mr. Lopez rides an 2004 VTX 1800 Retro |

Hi John, John,
Thanks, |
|
HOLY S**T, JOHN!! The "Sturgis Thunder" sound is outrageous! I'm going to enjoy every minute of riding with the pipes. I'm probably going to need to have about five minutes of your time on the phone sorting out how to make adjustments. I didn't make any tonight, because I didn't know quite what to do, so I rode tonight in what I think is the mild mode, which I think is the default mode that you ship the pipes in. If the sound I heard tonight is the mild mode, then I can't even imagine the wild mode! I'll call you next week. Thanks for getting them to me today so I could have them for my ride tomorrow, John. I appreciate your great service.

Hi John, I will be going on a poker run this weekend and then to Americade next week. When I get back I will let you know people's reaction to them. I did take her out Saturday morning for a quick ride, had a guy and his girl pull up next to me on their Road King and they commented on how good it sounded. Ya gotta love it, it does sound awesome.
